Ordinary: Five Minute Friday {1}

1 Mar

I step on a Lego man as I wonder around the kitchen trying to get breakfast on the table for my two kids. There are two massive construction vehicles along with a block-built launching pad for my son’s rocketship. Baby girl’s pacifier and lovie blanket have also joined the collection of toys taking up precious floor space in my kitchen.

A load of freshly washed laundry is piled on the couch from last night. The dishwasher is full of clean dishes and so the dirty ones from last night that didn’t make it in are sitting in the sink.

Most often, this is what my house looks like. I usually wish I could send my husband and kids out for five hours so that I could clean the house from top to bottom. But then, it wouldn’t be an ordinary day at home, would it?

Five Minute Friday

    There is shit everywhere in my house. I am constantly cleaning. :)

    The life in an ordinary household with kids. I always think of my aunt (who had 5 messy boys) and to how organised her house became once they had grown up and moved out. But those years in between? Bliss for the kids. And what could be more perfect than that? I try to remember that and enjoy the kids, and the mess they make, while they are young and giving me joy :)

      I totally agree, Colline! This messiness will only be here for so long. I complain about it, but in reality, I know I’ll miss it once they’re older. So for now, I just watch where I step. Because you never know where the Lego men are sleeping. :)

    I have 2 toddlers so I’m also too familiar with stepping on toys and legos (amazing how something that small can cause so much pain!)

      I know, right?! I have cursed the Lego man way too many times. But I still love that my little guy loves them.
